Great - this will give you plenty of scope to concentrate on the quality of the animation - I'm sure it will be a fascinating watch. Though I'd suggest doing some kind of slow zoom to make the shot a bit more visually dynamic. Perhaps do a zoom in at the end, or perhaps do a very gradual zoom out that lasts the entirety of the shot. Also, are you going to film the background footage on a DV camera? I hope you add a nice depth-of-field blur on the background, if you do. I doubt a DV camera will give you enough of a blur to make it film-like, so I'd add some blur in afterEffects.
Yeah, thanks for commmenting, mate. I hired a pretty cool DV camera actually, I'll post a picture of it.
Got some nice footage of the background, but it was kind of hard to get a smooth pan.
Actually, speaking to John and Mark, I'm going to actually do a time lapse effect, as it'll look more realistic because the butterfly (in reality) takes quite a while to come out. So, I'm actually going to use a sequence of digital stills of the background, which should also look more dynamic.

Looking forward to seeing it.
